Special dental care
Special dental care includes e.g. implant or artificial root treatments, dental surgery, orthodontic treatments, treatment of fearful patients, and light anesthesia and general anesthesia.
Surgery
The most common surgical procedures in the oral area are the surgical removal of wisdom teeth and the installation of artificial roots, i.e. dental implants.
Other procedures included in oral surgery include the removal of tumors and the removal of mucosal overgrowth or inflamed gum tissue that has arisen under the full prosthesis. Samples taken from different mucosal changes also belong to the field of oral surgery.
Often, surgical treatment is accompanied by a course of antibiotics and appropriate pain medication as supportive treatment, because after surgical treatment, momentary pain and swelling may occur in the surgical area.
Surgical procedures are usually performed under local anesthesia. Can be used if necessary sedation i.e. light anesthesia.
Orthodontic services
Our specialist dentists consult and implement orthodontic treatments with several different methods for both children and adults. Tutustu myös uniapnean tutkimukseen ja hoitoon klinikoillamme.
Dental implants
An implant made of titanium, i.e. an artificial root, is the most natural way to replace a completely missing tooth. In addition to a single tooth, implants can replace several missing teeth or the entire bite of a toothless jaw.
The suitability of implant treatment is always assessed on a case-by-case basis at the dentist's office. General diseases or lifestyles are rarely an obstacle to placing an implant.
Implant surgery is a simple and safe surgical procedure. After research and planning, a titanium implant is installed in the jawbone. When the implant has ossified in the jawbone, a crown made in the dental laboratory is installed on top of it.
You can also get additional support from implants for loose prostheses. Otherwise, the permanent mandibular full prosthesis can be supported with implants.
Implants are very durable. Manufacturers generally give their implants a lifetime guarantee.

Fear Patients
The most important thing to control fear at the dentist's office is to establish a relationship of trust between the patient and the doctor. The first step towards more pleasant visits to the dentist is to mention your fear when you book an appointment. Unpleasant fears related to visits to the doctor can be alleviated when a patient who is afraid of the dentist is supported by a dedicated, professional therapist. The aim is to meet the patient as a person whose oral health is part of a larger whole.
One of the reasons why the dentist is feared is the fear that the procedures will cause pain. Since the attitudes and methods have developed considerably since last years, it is possible to perform the procedures completely without the feeling of pain.
The goal is to solve the problem in cooperation with the patient and the treatment team and get the fear under control. For a fearful patient, it is very rewarding when the mouth has been examined and treated. When everything goes well, the fear gradually begins to dissipate. And it is also very rewarding for the dentist. It may not always be possible, and in such cases, the solution may be to take care of your oral health at once under anesthesia.
Sedation
When dental treatment scares you, it is possible to use sedation, i.e. light anesthesia. Sedation causes a relaxed and drowsy feeling, during which speech contact is maintained. During sedation, extensive procedures can be performed comfortably without pain.
Sedation is carried out with intravenous medication. Sedation is supervised by an anesthesiologist who can regulate the relaxing effect of sedation during the procedure. Both relaxing medicine and pain medication are used as medicine.
After sedation, the patient can go home with an escort after a few hours. After sedation, you cannot drive a car during the next day.
General anesthesia
General anesthesia may be necessary, for example, due to the long duration of the procedure, the scope of the treatment or its nature. Anesthesia can also be used when it is a small child or a person with a strong fear of treatment.
General anesthesia is carried out efficiently and safely with modern drugs, following an individual treatment plan by an anesthesiologist.
Recovery from anesthesia takes a while, but often the patient can go home 1-2 hours after the procedure with an escort. Driving is only allowed 24 hours after general anesthesia.
